I just read a book called Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose. It is an action packed World War II book that follows one company's journey from the jump in Normandy through their final major offensive at Hitler's Eagle Nest.
Easy Company is a group of civilians who volunteer themselves into the USA's newly formed Parachute Infantry Regiment. They made it into Europe and proved themselves to be one of the best army companies throughout World War II. They won battle after battle and they received multitudes of awards for their brave services. This group was formed in 1942 and disbanded by 1945, and yet this group of civilians were always one step ahead of Hitler's elite army.
It is easy to forget those that fought wars for our country in order to keep us safe. But it is because of them, America is still free. We must always remember those brave souls.
